According to the Marco Island Sun Times, the Marco Island Planning Board and Marriott Vacation Club representatives will soon meet for talks on a development plan for the former Radisson site. Marriott is planning the development of up to 219 timeshare units on the 7.55 acre site. But this cannot be done without a conditional use permit. Marriot also has plans to obtain a permit to raise its building height to 150 ft. This is not the first meeting; there have been previous meetings in the recent past. The last one was held on March 23. In those previous meetings the Planning Board members expressed their concerns about the architectural design of the complex and intensity issues. The planning board members also wanted to ascertain how long it will take for a public beach access point to be completed. Approval by the Planning Board is only the first stage as the plan still has to be forwarded to the city council for consideration. |
