Jim Palmer, founder of the company CoachShare explains how the idea for the company came out of his personal experience. He relates that he and his wife were contemplating buying a luxury RV, but decided they couldn't justify the high purchase costs, as well as the high maintenance and depreciation costs, for a vehicle that they were likely to use for only a few weeks each year. He decided that it would be great if the use of a luxury coach could be shared between a few owners, thus decreasing the cost to a more manageable level, while still providing use of the RV when needed. The high initial purchase price is only the start of your financial responsibilities when you purchase a luxury RV. The maintenance, storage, depreciation and cleaning costs can add up to both a logistical headache and a lot of money each year. People who buy a fractional ownership with Coach Share, avoid these hassles and expenses, as the company handles all administration and maintenance on the RV's, and will pay as little as 15% of the Rv's cost each year. Palmer says it can be a great way to find out if a luxury RV is really right for you before buying an RV that could cost as much as half a million dollars. Each CoachShare RV is divided up between a small group of owners, numbering from 6 to 12. Owners must commit to a three year term of ownership and the company handles all administrative paperwork such as insurance DMV fees, storage etc. When the three year term expires, the RV is sold, and the proceeds are divided up between the owners. Donald Skinner, a CoachShare owner raves, "You have the benefit of owning a beautiful, fully equipped coach without the worries of a full time owner," CoachShare RVs are delivered fully equipped with high end amenities. Cookware, dinnerware, satellite TV and radio, patio furniture home theatre system, even monogrammed linens are provided for use by the fractional owners. Owners need not invest in any RV supplies, as everything is already supplied. CoachShare also provides a two day RV driving course, so owners will feel comfortable behind the wheel of the immense vehicles. Fractional ownership has been around for years in the private jet, vacation home and yachting sectors, and RV's are a logical extension of these existing timeshare solutions. |
