Sequan Redrick was recently given the honor of being named a $1 million sales agent at the Waikiki Marina Resort by Shell Hawaiian Regional Director Robert Foster. According to Foster, "Sequan sold well over a million dollars in timeshare sales in less than nine months, an amazing feat for anyone, let alone someone in their first year of sales. But with his personal drive and deep determination, it is not surprising. This is a most unusual young man and we are extremely proud to have him on our team." Aside from the very sweet sales commissions that Redrick received, his prize amounted to a $15,000 bonus as well as a week's worth of vacation at any Shell resort including airfare both ways and a free luxury car rental. Finally, he also received a gold and diamond ring in order to commemorate his amazing success. Sequan, now 25 years of age, has a history of successful selling. From the time he left home eleven years ago, he has been earning money through sales commissions. He started with mittens and gradually worked his way up until his final year of high school when he had his own apartment and enough money to pay for his post-secondary tuition outright. According to Sequan, he was headstrong and was able to make it work. Eventually, he came across a video on Hawaii and his destiny was set, causing him to leave school early. Redrick remembered the decision thusly. "I knew if I stayed, I was going to stop growing. It would have been my finish line. I had promised my mom I would finish school but I wanted more and longed for new horizons. I was debating between the Bahamas and Hawaii and saw a video on Hawaii that featured a Monarch butterfly. A few days later, the same kind of butterfly landed right in front of me. I knew it was a sign." It was difficult at first for Sequan in Honolulu, but he did not fear the hardship. "Honestly, I had no fears. Being from the streets of Chicago, all my fears had been tested. More importantly, I learned how to read people and that you can never project weakness." Sequan eventually worked his way up again, finally landing the job with Shell Vacations and the eventual award that he recently received. Joyce Fahey is the senior sales manager of the Waikiki resort and had nothing but praise for Sequan. "Sequan is successful because he always follows the steps of the presentation, remains focused and stays centered. He is an anomaly. If I could clone him, I would. He is committed to remaining balanced and will not work more than a five-day week." But Sequan has a softer side that many people do not see, according to Fahey. She informed reporters that he uses part of his earnings to fund an African family, sending six of their children through college. He also paid for his sister's college and has purchased a new home for his mother. Fahey went on to say that big sellers usually have big egos and in her decade of work she has never seen someone as humble and successful as Sequan is. |
