Although Avon's new gondola, near the Beaver Creek Mountains, are only weeks away from being done. However it is uncertain whether it will be open by winter.

What's holding up the opening? Construction at the bottom of the gondola may be too dangerous for visitors. Andy Gunion, project manager for East West Partners, simply says, "We hope so" to the question about the gondola's opening for the next ski season.
 
The gondola will carry eighteen 8-person cars to the bottom of Lower Beaver Creek Express in only three minutes. Crews specialized in construction gondolas and chairlifts have been working on the cars for roughly a year.
 
East West Partners is planning to build The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa at the base of the gondola. The resort will have over 200 condos, 93 of which have been sold already. Another 100 condos and 115 timeshares are in development for the same site.
 
Project is expected to be finished by 2012 at the latest.
