Timeshares Cause Controversy in Dells, WI PDF Print E-mail
Written by OJ Fagbire

City aldermen have raised concerns about the potentially negative effects timeshares may have on their city’s economy.

After reading the proposed zoning code a second time, Assistant City Attorney Joe Hasler added wording that addressed the council’s concerns whether timeshares pay room and premier resort tax.

According to Hasler, the real problem is that timeshares might bring more people to the city, but the people are not contributing revenue like those that stay in other temporary lodging facilities.
The city is somewhat at odds with the state of Wisconsin which does not allow discrimination against timeshares.

The city is still ironing out details of the ordinance that may include conditional zoning grants for timeshares, motels, and resorts.
