Legend's Team Facing Lawsuits For Letting Time Share Community Deteriorate PDF Print E-mail
Written by OJ Fagbire

Owners of timeshares at the Legends Resort and Country Club on route 517 in NJ are initiating a lawsuit against the property owners, after years of neglect have turned their timeshare community into an eyesore and a fire hazard.

The residents have initiated a lawsuit, and have also filed a complaint with a timeshare regulatory board against the owners of the property, the Metairie Corp.

Owners say that they recently received an unsigned and undated letter form a group that referred to itself as the Developers, asking them to drop the lawsuit, saying that the lawsuit initiated was not allowing them to finish the needed repairs and maintenance. Timeshare owners are not buying the terms of the letter, and are questioning where their thousands of dollars of maintenance and time share fees have been going.

Residents say that the buildings are now unsafe and mildewing, and covered with graffiti; a recent fire evaluation reported 25 fire code violations at the property.

The residents were offered a chance to trade in their time share units for a week at a time share resort in the Bahamas, but residents have said that this is not a real time share, just a discount vacation, and they would still have to pay for the costs associated.

Timeshare owners have written a letter to the town, urging the municipality to never again allow the owners of the resort to be allowed to develop another resort again, and cite a long list of grievances as reasons why.
