In a recent report by Orlando’s Channel 9 TV, the network featured a Nevada-based company that used manipulative tactics to lure timeshare sellers. The report said that the company Apex Professionals sends postcards to timeshare owners, telling them the company is interested in buying their timeshares. The post cards say, “Now making immediate offers to timeshare owners who want to sell.”
But once the potential timeshare sellers met with the company, the initial offer changed. It turns out Apex Professionals weren’t offering to buy the timeshares; they were actually offering the timeshare owner to pay $3,500 and deed the timeshare to the company.
Apex Professionals even invited timeshare owners to seminars that encouraged them to deed their timeshares. The main emphasis of the seminars was (1) expensive maintenance and (2) hard resale. The company convinces you that your timeshare is not a good investment in the long run.
In the context of today’s economy, the company may have a point. However, for those who intend to sell their timeshares, they should consult their developer or a trusted broker. Timeshare owners will not only lose their timeshare in a deal like this (referring to Apex scam), they will also lose a lot of money, which is unnecessary.
