Yesterday, a fire at the Poipu Kai timeshare building caused an estimated $900,000 in damage, as reported by Kaua'i County.
Firefighters responded swiftly to an 11 AM fire alarm at the Manualoha complex. By 11:37 AM, the firefighters had the blaze under control and by 12:58 PM it was extinguished.
The lower level of a two-bedroom, two-story unit was destroyed by the fire. The upper level was damaged by smoke and water.
The fire was first noticed by Bueno Construction and B&P Construction, who were remodeling the first floor apartment when they saw the fire. They tried to extinguish it with fire extinguishers, but the flame was too intense.
