The Florida House of Representatives has approved a bill that will help the timeshare industry. It will allow developers to sell debt-cancellation policies and it will ensure that the exchanges are not subject to taxes.
The House voted unanimously 112-0 for the bill, which has been lobbied by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), Walt Disney World, and other real estate companies.
The House removed a controversial provision in the bill, where it stated that counties can spend hotel taxes to build publicly-owned convention hotels.
