Rochester police recently reported that a local woman was swindled to sell her timeshare at Christmas Mountain Village in Wisconsin Dells.
The 39-year-old tried to sell her vacation property on Landmarktimeshares.com, a business she found on the internet.
The woman sent $1,800 to the dealer last March. She was promised that she would get her money back once her timeshare was sold. When the woman never got a call back, she contacted police in Waltham, Massachusetts, where the dealer was said to be located.
This is not an isolated case. Investigators said that they have received a lot of complaints about the Landmark Timeshares.
To avoid instances like this, make sure that your timeshare dealer is legitimate. You can double check the company’s name with federal regulators to secure your purchase.
