This Saturday, the Colony Plaza Hotel in Ocoee, Central Florida will be torn down.

Crews are now preparing to demolish the once iconic pink hotel that is located in Maguire Road Colonial Drive. According to reports, the place has become a “magnet for crime and vandalism.” That is why city leaders want to remove it.

The City of Ocoee says its spent around $200,000 finding the hundreds of timeshare owners before they tear down the hotel, but the unit owner of room 744 said that no one has contacted her and informed her about the demolition.

“They couldn't find you? I've been here the whole time,” commented the timeshare owner. “I’ve lived in Kissimmee the whole time. Nobody's contacted me.”

For personal reasons, the tenant refused to disclose her name, but she showed Eyewitness News anchor Eric Rasmussen her warranty to the unit she bought in 1998.

When the building was condemned, lawyers promised to get it repaired, so she kept paying to a total of $3,000.

“So, you held up your end of the deal?” asked Rasmussen during the show.

“Yeah,” responded the owner.

“So now what?” followed Rasmussen.

“Now I have nothing, I have nothing,” she said. “I’m concerned one or two of them are going
to sue us. That's the biggest thing.”

The money I put into it, in the scheme of things, wasn’t a lot, but it’s the principle. That was the week of vacation I planned to have forever and ever,” said the owner in defense of her situation.

Ocoee’s City Manager feels confident that they will not be handling legal proceedings on the matter, because timeshare owners still own the air space of their units after the building’s demolition.
