Europe’s Timeshare Owners and Committees (TATOC) have released comments regarding a new comprehensive study by the Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute at the Business School from the University of Nottingham. The study was commissioned by the Resort Development Organisation (RDO).
TATOC supported the findings of the newly released timeshare owners study. The organization noted that the study highlights a changing public perception of the industry.
Harry Taylor, chief executive of TATOC, called the study the most comprehensive and detailed study of the industry of the decade. He says that the study recognizes the timeshare industry as a viable holiday product.
Subjects of the study included more than 33,000 respondents in 12 countries.
Questionnaire results indicated that 87 percent of timeshare owners are satisfied with their timeshare.
With well over 1,000,000 timeshare owners in Europe, the most timeshare owners came from United Kingdom and Ireland with around 600,000 owners. The two were followed by Germany and Italy.
Most of the timeshare owners ranked their timeshare experience above other self-catering holidays. The owners rank the quality of accommodations, timeshare exchange opportunities, and credibility of timeshare resort vendors as the keys to buying a timeshare.
The study says that the timeshare is “a powerful, credible, and ringing endorsement of growing popularity of holiday ownership.”
“Timeshare is an affordable way of having a shared ownership in a holiday home,” said Harry Taylor. “I am confident the UK will continue to lead the way in boosting its expansion and popularity in Europe.”
