Timeshare resorts are showing signs of resilience, despite the recession.

Timeshares have survived the recession because of its pre-paid configuration, said Howard Nusbaum president and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA).

Nusbaum believes that the industry will survive the recession, because people continue to look for flexible payment options.

James Lewis—president of the Disney Vacation Club—says that he is confident in the company’s timeshare units. Disney will be opening resorts in California and Hawaii.

Disney even announced that club members will be invited to take part in volunteering campaigns for community projects. Participants will get free one-day admission to a Walt Disney Resort.
