Selling your timeshare is not easy. Sellers, who are not knowledgeable about the timeshare, should leave this one to the experts. The real problem is finding a trustworthy timeshare resale company.
With more and more timeshare scams popping out, it’s best to do your homework on any company that you’re about to deal with.
Here are simple steps to help you avoid timeshare scams:
• Cross-refer the company’s name with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)
• Confirm the company’s licensing requirements—double check addresses and if the salespersons have appropriate college degrees
• Ask for facts and figures—commissions, ad fees, and possible refunds
• Avoid upfront fees. As much as possible, get a timeshare resale company that only charges once your timeshare has been sold.
• Be vigilant. Great offers are usually too good to be true.
