Timeshare telemarketing businesses are at the top of Florida’s consumer complaints list.
According to Florida’s Attorney General’s Office and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, there have been more than 10,000 consumer complaints about timeshare resale companies in the past three years.
This ownership configuration allows vacationers to use a property for a designated amount of time per year. Ownership entails paying annual dues and property taxes of the timeshare.
The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) says that more than a quarter of the timeshare resorts in the United States (US) are in Florida. 85 percent of the owners like their timeshare property, while 15 percent are trying to sell them.
To protect yourself from timeshare-related scams, do your research about the company you are dealing with. And contact the proper authorities to confirm the legitimacy of the company.
