Mickey Mouse has finally reached Hawaii.

Walt Disney Co. gave a sneak preview last month of its new Hawaiian resort, which is set to launch next year.

Aulani is the company’s first major stand-alone resort that is separate from its theme park in Orlando.

“This is a very special project for us,” cited Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “It's unlike anything that Disney has done before; at the same time, it's very like many of the things we do.”

The resort will hold 359 hotel rooms, 481 timeshare units, several restaurants, a convention center, a spa, and a massive water fun area.

Nestled in Oahu’s Leeward Coast in Ko Olina, it offers vacationers and timeshare owners white-sand beaches, blue lagoons, and a scenic golf course.

According to studies, the new facility will generate more than 4,000 jobs for its construction alone. Upon completion, Aulani will also provide 2,400 job vacancies for running the resort.
