Virginia timeshares are closing in on hotels in terms of local occupancy, according to the latest report of Tourism and Chamber Alliance. This marked a 15 percent increase compared to 1987.
As of late, timeshares have been more aggressive on marketing through the internet. Its discounted rates have hurt local hotels and motels.
Experts attribute the local industry’s success to better marketing in combination with harsh economic realities.
