Orlando police recently brought down a telemarketing business that was found by investigators to be tricking clients out of their money through fake brokering services. Five suspects have already been apprehended, but police officials say more arrests will eventually follow. The suspects arrested have been identified as Eric Isaken, Catherine Keller, Andrew Nance and Kurt Neyhart. The perpetrators' victims are estimated to number around thousands, police add.
Division of Agriculture and Consumer Services agents, Orlando police and code enforcement officers participated in a joint bust operation along North Magnolia Avenue. Police spokesperson Sgt. Barbara Jones confirms that the company had posed as a sales brokerage for timeshare properties, rendering aid to their client-victims in selling timeshare assets. Jones added that victims who had already paid for the company's services received no aid or support whatsoever. Cloaking under several business names that include Resort Sales Group, Resort Services Group and Resort Time Sharing INC, the company had been operating at downtown Orlando for an unknown period of time. State records reveal several businesses registered under similar names, but police are still investigating whether those had any connections to the company.
Investigations started as recently as December last year. A tip from an anonymous source through Crimeline alerted the police about the company's illegal activities. Criminal complaints have been filed both from U.S. and Canadian citizens who had unknowingly transacted with the company despite its lack of a business license.
