The Bank of Montreal (BMO) has just released results of a poll showing that most of Canada's populations are tired of staying at home through winter. According to poll data, the concept of "staycation" is starting to become increasingly unpopular, with most Canadians wanting to leave and travel to vacation destinations where there is warmer climate.
The results say that almost 45 percent of Canadians had made plans to leave their homes during the holidays with most saying they prefer vacation destinations that are sunny and warm. This is opposed to the survey results from previous years. Now, only 6 percent say they would rather have a staycation.
BMO deputy chief economist Doug Porter says that those figures mean positively for the country's economy. He sees confidence in consumers has been much higher than during Canada's recession period, and adds that the country's currency is now inching closer to the US dollar's value. Porter explains now is the best time for Canadians to head to the states to buy timeshare resales and rentals. Financial experts agree saying that Canada's own timeshare industry is in a sound state.
