A £5.1-million penthouse has just made the top of a list of luxury accommodations up for grabs at Hamilton Hall. The owners, the Kohler Company, will be revealing details about the St. Andrews building which has grown to be an icon over the years and will be renamed as the Hamilton Grand. 26 luxurious apartments will be sold, each starting at a price tag of £1.35 million.
Ex Old Course Hotel manager Debbie Taylor says she launched the project as President of Hospitality and Real Estate with the company. In an interview with the Citizen, Taylor says that her office's main goal is the restoration of the building to create a "dwelling that will make the people of St. Andrew's proud."
Meanwhile, Frontlife Fife's Billy Lynch tells Citizen in another interview that St Andrews has become part of the areas in the country that has people who are finding it very hard to locate homes. Lynch adds that there are even people, despite their local connections, are finding it increasingly difficult to return to St. Andrews in order to live. Lynch, whose organization works to prevent homelessness in the country, says a proper social housing building programme could help address the homelessness problem in St. Andrews.
