False rumors had been spreading around that Marriot International would be pulling out its brand from the Marriot Resort in St. Kitts. Public speculation had been wildly occurring that the reason for John Willard "Bill" Marriot Jr, Chairman and CEO of Marriot International, dropping by St. Kitts the previous week was because he was discussing brand pullout with resort general manager Vic Dizen.
There are also rumors that Dizen had been making plans to come up with a rental agreement with the resort if they did intend to pull out the Marriot brand. In an interview with The Observer meanwhile, Tourism Minister Hon. Richard Skerritt says that he was unaware of such rumors and the he hopes that it is all false.
It turns out that the rumors had taken root from concerns by U.S.-based shareholders and timeshare customers right after Marriot International told the media its plans to create its own timeshare division by the end of this year.
