For Annie Benson, holding on to her mother’s Hilton Head Island timeshare property was no longer feasible. In fact, she researched for three months about what was the best thing to do about it until she finally decided to list the unit online. The property, whose value during purchase by her parents was $6,000 back in 1994, is now up for sale for a mere dollar.
Benson even put the current year’s annual maintenance fees as part of the one-dollar package. Within one day since posting, a buyer had come forward to purchase the property which stands at Shelter Cover in Marriot’s Harbour Point.
Benson’s mother admitted that she was thrilled that the property had been sold. Benson shares that her mother was “delighted to be rid of it” despite having enjoyed yearly vacations she and her parents had in Lowcountry. The sale is just one of hundreds of timeshare giveaways that are now posted in the Internet, most of which had values worth thousands of dollars during purchase by their owners.
