The Department of Consumer Protection has uncovered several timeshare resale scams in Connecticut, and it’s advising residents to be wary of these scams.
“If you are a timeshare owner receiving unsolicited offers to sell your timeshare, or are unsure about who these companies are and what services they are offering, the Department of Consumer Protection has some guidance to offer,” said William M. Rubenstein, Consumer Protection Commissioner.
While timeshares are good investments, some owners tend to offload these properties during the long run. And when this happens, there are many scammers that are ready to take their money without completing the resale service.
These resellers usually advertise in proper channels, but—make no mistake about it—they are scammers. Timeshare owners who want to sell their property are advised to double check their resale company dealings. If possible, run the name of the company through the Better Business Bureau.
