Timeshare scammers con thousands of innocent consumers every year. But they can be easily avoided by following some simple steps.
First, never pay an upfront fee. This is where most scammers take your money. If the company asks for an advanced fee, walk away from the deal. This fee maybe called of different names, including an appraisal fee or a market analysis fee. Regardless of the name, don’t pay it. You’re less likely to see that money again.
The second step, of course, is to run the name of the company through the Better Business Bureau. Research the dealer, and look for any complaints against it.
Last but not the least, make sure that your contract is in writing. Once you receive the document, get your lawyer to check it. If you don’t agree with some parts of it, never sign it.
