Timeshare scams are everywhere. Con artists stop at nothing to rip timeshare owners, who are desperate to unload their vacation properties.
These scammers take advantage of the timeshare resale market’s huge supply and its limited buyers. With the promise of a quick sale, timeshare owners cannot resist these bogus offers.
In a recent report, it was narrated that a woman tried to sell her timeshare in the secondary market. Companies began contacting her. In hopes of getting a quick sale, the woman gave her credit card information. And that was that.
The report claimed that the scammers took around $70,000 of the timeshare owner’s money.
The woman has since complained the company to the local attorney general. But the scammers have yet to be apprehended.
If you’re approached with deals like this, contact the nearest Better Business Bureau center in your city. With the regulator’s help, you can double check the company’s background.
