Former employees from the now-defunct Fort Lauderdale timeshare resale company have pled guilty to defrauding clients, who wanted to sell their timeshare properties.
Thirteen telemarketing agents from the company have gone before federal judges in the past two months, each admitting that they lied to customers to con them for thousands of dollars.
Federal authorities charged the agents with fraud. They worked for a company, which was organized by convicted felons, that took about $5 million in less than a year from unsuspecting timeshare owners.
Currently, the authorities are going after low-level employees from the company. Fifteen individuals have been apprehended in the last six months, and 13 of them have pled guilty to mail and wire fraud. The charges can carry up to five years imprisonment.
The 14th employee says that he will cut a plea deal, while the last employee passed away two months ago. All the convicted felons are currently awaiting sentencing.
