Another timeshare mailing scam PDF Print E-mail

A California-based company named Transfer Smart is mailing too-good-to-be-true timeshare resale offers to people across the United States. And when resale offers are too good to be true, they usually are.

In the letter, Transfer Smart promises to “get you out of your Timeshare Forever!” However, the letter fails to mention the thousands of dollars it will take to transfer and resell your timeshare to the company. It also does not mention other fees and taxes for the resale of your unit.

A response will lead to a meeting with the company. There, they will pressure you to write a check on the spot to sell your timeshare.

It’s not a secret: many people are trying to sell off their timeshares. And many scammers are trying to take advantage of these desperate timeshare owners.

According to sources, paying thousands of dollars to high-pressure resale agents is not the way to go. Timeshare owners are advised to hire attorneys to arrange resale agreements. While this may cause hundreds of dollars, it’s a lot cheaper compared to paying resale companies and agents.

Also, sellers are advised to check on the names of the companies they’re dealing with to ensure they aren’t scammers.
