While owning a timeshare does have its benefits, the long-term burdens are forcing most owners to resell their property. And their desperation makes them easy targets for timeshare scammers.
Like most properties, reselling timeshares aren’t simple—especially since supply is far bigger than demand.
For some owners, the costs of reselling their property have no ceiling. Some have paid more than $3,000 for only the promise that their unit will be resold.
Attorneys advise that such promises are not guaranteed, posing the risk of enlarging your timeshare problem. If you decide to pay—and eventually no buyer comes around, you’re going to end up in a deeper ditch compared to where you started.
The best way to go about is to have your personal attorney fix the paper work.
Also, deal with legit businesses only. Remember: if a resale offer is too good to be true, it often is.
